Sunsets in San Diego, CA

Lately, I've been into capturing sunsets at various San Diego beaches.
Thought I would share some of the ocean breezes and autumn sunsets with you!
Enjoy :)

Boutique Make-over at the Rock Church Thrift Store

I've been volunteering at the Rock Thrift Store for nearly 7 months now, and it was no question that the area where all of the "brand" named items are located was not very user friendly.
So a team of volunteers and I took the project upon ourselves to give the space a "makeover."
And now I am happy to report that I am so glad it's over!
What a build up it was to get it done. After countless meetings, planning sessions, questions and fears about how we could pull it off, we did!
I'm elated, everything went as possible with the help of all my friends and volunteers.

Donating my time for Jesus is so worth it, when the contribution we all can make helps people find their way to God.

Our design meetings were strategic and creative, and well planned out. However, what I learned again, was that being creative sometimes is best just left to spontaneity. We all got together and in one evening pulled off the entire feat. Now the women's boutique at the Rock Church Thrift Store looks like its had a complete make-over.

Praise God for everyone that helped make it a success!

Sun Diego

What a wonderful weekend in San Diego - so blessed to be here and able to enjoy sunshine in January.
Was able to sight the spouts and a tail of a couple gray whales less than 200 yards off the coast today.
Pretty awe struck as I have been wanting to catch them during this winter migration and am stoked to think it was maybe a mama and her baby, or a couple of kids out there playing.
They didn't seem too big, but I was in a car driving along the coast, so it was hard to tell. I doubt the water is that deep being so close to the shore, which adds to my assumption that they were calves.
I hear they are migrating in record numbers around Point Loma - the peninsula shown below.
The island in the harbor is called Coronado.

This is the San Diego Harbor as seen from the top Point Loma.
You can see the Coronado bridge and the Navy base in the distance.

This is Sunset Cliffs, the beach side of Point Loma - just before the point. See any gray whale spouts?

The waves have been incredible and the beaches are super crowed with surfers and photographers.

Lots of buzz about the high surf!
At low tide, the girls got to go play at dog beach in Del Mar!

Happy dogs = happy day :)

I love the way things in life can be SO BEAUTIFUL without even trying.

Rocks. Ha :)

Sometimes the simplest things can create the greatest beauty.

In High Tide Or Low Tide

I love the juxtaposition of these two images so much!
I can really  feel  the difference.

HIGH TIDE

LOW TIDE

It's funny how a little carving on the cliffs can have a much deeper representation of the culture and environment that surrounds it.

I take away this:
If we nurture our relationships, they will flourish.

"The thing always happens that you really believe in;
and the belief in a thing makes it happen."

And here's a Bob Marley cover by Ben Harper and Jack Johnson to bring it all together :)

I love the guitar that Ben Harper is playing.  It is a family heirloom passed down by his grandfather.  Neat.

Winter - Written While High On Cocoa!

I know its still summer, but this poem originally came to me from San Diego in 2002 and found me again today as I shuffled through a stack of old Hallmark cards and sentimental notes.  It makes me feel remarkable and so I feel I must share it with you!

Winter

Written by Eric Fisher while high on cocoa!
January 19, 2002

It dawned on me the other day
Thinking back when you went away

Back in December it was just the time
It started on hot cocoa instead of Corona n lime

The days were gettin' shorter, the nights grew long
Longer than a Barry Manilow song

Coincidence or not, the moment you leave
I had to switch from short to long sleeve

Even the ocean was full of anger and fury
Mr. Pacific knew you split to Missouri

It's been so grey, so cold, I needed some answers
Before I start poppin' some mood enhancers

Then it came to me as I drank some dairy
The idea and foundation for an ingenious theory

I got the newspaper, Section D
And checked the weather out in KC

It was 60 degrees, lo and behold
It's January, danggit! Where was the cold?

My sis majored in weather, she definitely would know
Living in Chicago, she'll tell me where's the snow

I told her to aim the satellites onto KC
A warm fuzzy glow emerged from the screen

She distracted her boss and zoomed in the cam
Got all silent, then said, "Hot diggity dam!"

She pressed, "Print Screen," and sent me the pic
When I opened the image, my jaw dropped like a brick

It was a picture of you in your lil' white car
With a smile on your face brighter than a star!

When you left San Diego, your sunshine went, too
No one else could do that, only You!

I LOVE L.I.F.E.R.S. - Live It Fully Everyday, Remember Smile :)

You can read some of my original poetry here on my blog :)   Have a great day!

Here's a Barry Manilow's "Mandy" just for fun!
